Carnival in Weil der Stadt

Today I've been to the Carnival

in Weil der Stadt today. I'm not a very big friend of carnival but it wasn't too bad. Only problem was the weather, minus degrees and snow

New Years Eve I

		Just a couple of hours left till the new year starts. So we met out of town for a little warm up party. Just some friends and me. Was really fun

Forest Christmas

Yesterday afternoon, for the 4th advent there was church out in the woods. We've been singing, everybody got a torch and they served mulled wine. It was very romantic.

Last night my friends and me had our annual christmas dinner. With great skill in the kitchen we prepared Chicken with Peanut Curry Sauce and Sweet & Sour Pork with Rice. Drinking Sake and trying our luck with chopsticks we had a great feast. After dinner it was time to build the first snowman of this winter (it started snowing again) and play some pool

1st Snow

Last night it started to snow and kept on till this morning. It stoped over the day so I took the chance to go for a walk and take some pictures

For the next week forecast says heavy storms so maybe this was the last chance to get a decent picture

Christmas Market Esslingen

The Christmas and mediaeval market in Esslingen is very nice as well. Esslingen has a beautiful setting in the Neckar valley, and there are still many buildings dating back hundrets of years. The Castle was first mentioned in 1314, the old Town Hall in 1420.

Christmas Market Stuttgart

Today my friends and me went to the Christmas Market in Stuttgart. With over 200 stalls there is something for everybody. We had huge amounts of mulled wine and so the atmosphere was really relaxed.

Staffparty

This Friday Night we had a Christmas Party in the print house I'm working at. After a slow start it got really funny and in the end it was a really nice party

We had Pizza's ordered and some (including me) brought some other stuff like cakes and crisps. I've made a Black Forest Cake. It was a huge success

Saint Nicholas Day

Happy Saint Nicholas Day

Many children (and adults) put a boot, called Nikolaus-Stiefel, outside their front doors on the night of December 5 to December 6 St. Nicholas fills the boot with gifts, and at the same time checks up on the children to see if they were good. If they were not, they will have charcoal in their boots instead. Thats how we celebrate Nicholas day in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. Other countries like the Netherlands have a Nicholas Day as well but the celebrate different.

Christmas Market Ludwigsburg

Today we visited the Ludwigsburg christmas market. Set on the market square and surrounded by two old churches this is a really nice place to have a Glühwein (mulled wine)

Ludwigsburg is famous for its beautiful baroque buildings, and it's just a short drive from Stuttgart

Christmas Market Herrenberg

Today my sister, my cousin and me visited the christmas market in Herrenberg. It was really lovely. Not too crowded and the weather played along pretty good as well.

1st Advent

Today is the first advent and it was time to light the advent wreath. That's a old german custom which was invented in 1848. It's there to count down the Sundays till Christmas. The first christmas trees are set up and it started snowing. Christmas markets are opening everywhere and mulled wine (Glühwein) is sold

Last days of autumn

Those are probably some of the last pics before the weather turns bad. At night it started to freeze now and the days are colder as well.

My Hometown


	Here are some pics I've taken in my hometown. As you can see it's autumn now. There are not to many nice buildings where I come from, most of them have been broken down and replaced. But the few once still standing are really nice.
